Are Miniature Dachshunds Allergic to Hypoallergenic Things?
The term “hypoallergenic” refers to breeds of dogs that are less likely to cause allergic reactions in people who are sensitive to pet dander. Miniature dachshunds are a popular breed of dog, but they are not considered to be hypoallergenic.
Allergies to dogs are caused by proteins found in their saliva and dander. Dander is a mixture of dead skin cells and other particles that are shed by dogs. When dogs lick themselves, the proteins in their saliva are transferred to their fur, and when they shed their fur, the proteins are released into the air. People who are allergic to dogs can experience symptoms such as sneezing, runny nose, watery eyes, and difficulty breathing when they are exposed to dog dander.
